Emmanuelle Alt - New Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris

After a few weeks of speculation as to who would succeed Carine Roitfeld as editor in chief of Vogue Paris, the magazine has announced that its longtime fashion director Emmanuelle Alt will take the position.

Alt came to the magazine shortly before Roitfeld took it over in 2001. While both Alt and Virginie Mouzat, the fashion editor at French daily newspaper Le Figaro, had been considered in the running for the job, Alt’s selection is in line with Vogue Paris’s past hiring moves. She and Roitfeld both came to prominence as stylists and consultants before becoming editors-in-chief, and both have become global style stars in their own right.
Alt said in a post on the magazine’s website that her selection was a great honor and that she looks forward to developing the magazine’s incredible potential. Her official day in the editor’s chair is Feb. 1.
